The Week of September 28th = TAYLOR WINTERTON

Taylor is a Freshman this year at Sparta High School.  She is the daughter of Bob & Kori Winterton of Sparta.

In the four varsity races thus far this year, Taylor has been Sparta's #1 or #2 runner in all those races. From her 1st race of the season to her most recent race at Holmen, Taylor has cut 1:41 off her personal best time. At the Holmen meet Taylor ran a 21:04 to finish 7th overall out of 125 runners.

Head Cross Country Coach Jean Roddick says, "Taylor has worked hard to make the transition from running 2-mile races in middle school to 5K (3.1 miles) races in high school.  She has become an integral part of what is becoming a strong girl's team with sites set on making it the State Tournament on October 31st.  Taylor's hard work and a bulldog attitude has made Taylor the perfect compliment to a young and talented girl's squad."

CONGRATS to Taylor, our Spartan Athlete of the Week !!!!!

Activities Department Philosophy
Co-Curricular activities are an extension of the classroom experience for the student-athlete. We are not a separate entity unto ourselves. We exist to enhance the experiences student-athletes receive first in the classroom.

The Sparta activities program is consistent with school's overall philosophy and objectives. We provide a vigorous and diverse athletic program, offering opportunities to all of our students.
